Sword Gai will finally get an anime release via Netflix

Sword Gai worldwide premiere by netflix cocanime

The anime adaption of Sword Gai will finally be reaching our TV screens thanks to Netflix.

Fans have been waiting for the premiere of Sword Gai ever since its announcement way back in 2014.

Netflix stated that the animation is set to premiere worldwide in the Spring of 2018.

Still faraway, we know, but at least now we know just how much longer we need to wait.

The adaptation is based off of the Sword Gai manga created by Toshiki Inoue, Osamu Kine, and Keita Amamiya.

The manga was published from 2013 to 2015.

Toshiki Inoue will be returning to lead the creation of the anime series.

You might recognize Inoue’s name from several of his other works, including Kamen Rider 555, Kamen Rider Agito, ChäoS;HEAd, etc.

The synopsis is as follows, provided by MAL:

A woman died a suspicious death in the forest. Beside her, the sword-smith Amon finds a new-born boy with a tragic fate and takes him in. About 10 years later, this boy who is named Gai and who has become Amon’s apprentice, loses his right arm in an accident while making a sword. Amon decides to take a sword called “Shiryuu,” which is a sword with demonic powers that has been passed down for generations, and fashion it into an artificial arm for Gai. That was the beginning of it all…

The story of this boy, who has become one with a demonic weapon and is drawn into a cruel fate in which he must face countless battles, can be seen as either the story of “a beautiful weapon and an ugly person” or of “the cruelty of weapons and the beauty of humans.” This is a completely new world of comic noir.

Just one of many reasons to stay subscribed to Netflix!
