Your Name was more or less a masterpiece, becoming the 2nd highest-grossing film of all-time in Japan and earning a whopping 25.03 billion yen during its run.
It’s no surprise that when the DVD/Blu-Rays of the animated film came out, it instantly started topping Oricon’s weekly sales charts.
There were 4 versions of Kimi No Na Wa’s DVD/Blu-Rays that went on sale starting July 26th.
Here is how many copies each version sold during the 1st week of sales:
- DVD standard edition: 216,000.
- Blu-ray standard edition: 202,000.
- Blu-ray collector’s edition 4K Ultra HD: 126,000.
- Blu-ray special edition: 94,000.
The total number of sales for the 1st week totaled 638,000 sales.
It’s even more incredible because anime doesn’t normally top Oricon’s Blu-ray charts, but Your Name blew through that exception and managed to take the top 3 spots on the chart.
The DVD edition of the animation took the #1 spot on Oricon’s DVD charts (of course).
We’re so happy that Kimi No Na Wa did so well.
After seeing it in movie theaters (yay, international screening), we were just completely blown away by the story and the musical score.
Hell, we still have Mitsuha’s Theme on repeat thanks to Spotify.
